Business Link Funding and Grants and Support Directory
The Business Link Funding and Grants and Support Directory (GSD) allows you to search for potential sources of help with starting up or business development. The database contains grant and support schemes from central and local government as well as private organisations. While many schemes are available nationally, some are targeted locally. Depending on your location, type of business and what you need the funds for, you may be eligible for a number of schemes in the GSD.
Carbon Trust's Applied Research Programme - Up to £250k grant
The Carbon Trust's Applied Research Programme is open to UK businesses and research institutions and aims to support the development and commercialisation of technology with the potential to reduce UK carbon dioxide emissions. It endeavours to encourage and support the progress of low carbon technologies towards large scale deployment.
DTI Grant for Research and Development
Grant for Research and Development is designed to help individuals and small and medium-sized businesses research and develop technologically innovative products and processes.
GRANTfinder
GRANTfinder was developed to advise and guide both industrial and professional clients on all matters relating to grant aid - from identifying what is available to who, through to making an application. Grant finder is used by many of the best known UK blue chip companies, leading accountancy firms, housing associations, Business Links, Euro Info Centres, Learning and Skills Councils, government departments, local and regional authorities and government agencies.

j4bGrants specialises in the development of complex databases and their web-based delivery from its main office in the UK, and its branches in the Republic of Ireland and the Netherlands. j4b plc is an information services company offering research, information publishing, technology and business services to a wide range of public and private sector clients in the UK and abroad.
National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts
NESTA is the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts. They are the largest single endowment devoted exclusively to supporting talent, innovation and creativity in the UK. Their mission is to transform the UK's capacity for innovation and invest in early stage companies, inform innovation policy and encourage a culture that helps innovation to flourish.
NERC funding opportunities
The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) is the UK's main agency for funding and managing research, training and knowledge transfer in the environmental sciences. They are a Non-departmental Governmental Public Body (NDPB), funded mainly by government through the Department of Trade & Industry's Office of Science & Innovation. Although they receive public money, they remain independent of government.
SEEDA Research and Development Grant
SEEDA is responsible for managing two national Business Support products, which aim to increase the economic activity within the South East, Selective Finance for Investment in England (SFIE) and Grant for Research & Development (G4R&D). Business Support also has responsibility for managing the contracts with the region's six Business Links and 'sponsoring' the Finance South East (FSE) venture capital company.
