Turning Knowledge into Enterprise

New Energy Centre Opens in Hastings

With alternative energy set to be a huge growth area as fossil fuels decline and pressure to meet green targets increases, the centre will meet a growing need for training in new approaches to energy provision in the construction industry.

The Centre, aimed at learners and employers from the community, will provide training and qualifications in the theoretical and practical application of solar energy, wind energy, energy efficiency, water safeguarding, recycling and more. It will also include facilities to enable Industry Professionals to renew trade licences.

Mohan Chana, Assistant Principal, Technology at Sussex Coast College Hastings, says: ‘These new technologies will be the norm in 10-15 years time. We want to provide the South Coast construction industry with a fantastic learning centre for renewable and alternative energies.’ The centre will managed by Mick O’Driscoll and those seeking more information can call 01424 852 968.

The opening will take place on Wednesday 30th September along with an Environmental Technology Event in the evening. Contact Rebecca Gildea on 01424 205387 or email rebeccagildea@seeda.co.uk
