East Sussex hits the City
Four local companies are a step closer to securing additional funding for their businesses after taking part in a Hub-sponsored Dragon's Den type event in London recently. The event, organised in conjunction with business angels specialists Beer and Partners, resulted in clients securing funding.
The four companies are in various stages of development – but all share a desire to expand, which, in the current climate, is not always straightforward. Each of the four – plus many other similar businesses in the area is provided with business support by the Hub to help them develop their ideas.
- Donate As You Spend sells High Street Gift Vouchers which also generate a donation to charity at no cost to the purchaser. The company has also recently been appointed by Tesco as sole distributor for their gift vouchers
- EVRS has developed a new environmental recycling system that uses an innovative steam hydrolysis system to break down organic matter into glucose. The company is looking for funding to help it establish its first state of the art plant facility.
- Rye-based Cyclix has exclusive rights to use an environmentally friendly pre-harvest biocide which is effective against a range of bacterial and fungal infections. The company requires funds to perform regulatory testing to gain EU certification and development costs.
- Based on recipes handed down through 5 generations Valcy Ltd have developed a range of 100% natural and organic skin care products that are derived from a uniquely physiological perspective. Valcy Ltd require funding to establish an R&D laboratory to produce and enhance the collection of products for the high end market.
